    xp32 to windows7 x64 problem !

    hi everyone ,,

I'm having some troubles in upgrading from xp 2 windows 7

when i insert the CD and make to pc boot from it .. it doesnt
it tries to boot or something but then it logs in windows XP

when i click on the cd from my computer -> autorun

it says that its not a valid win32 application " maybe coz my pc is xp 32 bit "

also i downloaded the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and i passed the 64 bit test !

last but not least .. i have 2 harddisks inside my pc
    one is the whole C [ 80GB ]
    one is the D and the E [ 250GB ]

i'm willing to do a clean install ofcourse but would that only affect the windows harddisk [C] or it will affect all the harddisk inside my pc [the other hard disk has files too and i dont want to delete them , i need to buy another harddisk to back up]

    thanks alot

A clean install is your only option ... an inplace upgrade is not available from xp to windows 7...

A litte add on to Tews post, you can not upgrade from any 32bit OS to any 64bit OS.

Make sure that your DVD drive is set as the first boot device in your BIOS... When you get to the install screen, select custom install...select your C: drive for formatting and proceed with installation... It will not affect your other drives...Let us know if you have any problems...

Do you get a message on screen saying Press any key to boot from CD... (or similar)? You need to press a key whilst the prompt is visible, otherwise the BIOS will drop down to the next boot device, in your case the hard disk.
