Oh, that's easy: Run a Startup Repair. That should take care of it immediately. If you don't know how, boot from the installation/repair disc and select "Repair my computer". It's self-explanatory from there.

Thanks for the help, I have got to the stage where both windows 7 installations are showing on the boot tab under msconfig, theres no option to remove the second O/S as the delete tab is greyed out. The 2nd windows 7 is on the d drive, this laptop has 2 drives.Ideally I want to delete windows 7 on d drive and install xp pro for some car diagnostic software which only runs on xp,Is there an easy guide how to do this..I have read Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP but need to uninstasll this installation on d drive

OK latest, I dcided to format and install xp pro on d drive and leave windows 7 on c drive. When i rebboted I only had the option to run xp pro so then run a windows 7 repair.now I only have the option of windows 7 Think I will stick with fixing cars
Is there any way I can get both O/S on a dual boot please

When you installed XP, it didn't know how to configure the dual boot with Win7.

When you ran Startup Repair on Win7, it only concerned itself with recovering Win7.

To recreate the Dual Boot, download EasyBCD and add XP back in using the Add/Remove tab, choosing type shown, name and correct drive
