I desperately need help! Grub 1.5 error code 17

    No problem...after you get 7 installed (or while you are waiting ) hop on over to the tutorial section and check that out, I gurrantee you will learn something new...

    Also feel free to ask questions on getting the installation up and ready. We love a challenge and the next task at hands will be drivers so an issue might come up

    hehe shirley... nie ma problem , mala...

    anyway, ye, to pass that you have to be able to boot windows 7 you are fine now.. if the same problem had occured whilst still having windows and linux.. you could get into a recoveyr mode and done bootrec /mbr

    or possibly bootsect /fixmbr if still exists (think that was the vista only).

    You see, even fi you had formatted your whole disk again, you still might be getting the problem as grub enters its entries into MBR (master boot record) which is reserved 1024 first sectors or so of a disk. pre win7, windows and linux both would fight over this place say, so sometimes when things went wrong, you just have to clean it... cheeky manufacturing leads ot windows automatically booting and not linux then ;p

    I had the same problem, I swap the partition for ubuntu and now has the GRUB error 17. I'll try this, hope this work for me too
