    boot problems!please need help!


    Hi!

    i am having booting problems with my windows seven...when i try too boot up some other OS from cd or flash drive it say BOOTMGR file is missing...
    can someone upload bootmgr file from file:///c://windows/Boot/PCAT/

    its windows 7 x32...thanks

    What are you trying to boot from? Are you sure the boot media works? Windows boots okay, right?

    It doesn't sound like you have your boot priority correct.
    Enter your BIOS and change the order to DVD/CD > HD > xxx > xxx

    With regard to fixing the bootmgr is missing. Boot from your DVD and perform a startup repair.

    yes but i dont have windows 7 CD...i want to dual boot windows 7 and ubuntu 9.10 (i need ubuntu for programming)...windows 7 boot up very good...i put that order in boot menu and still BOOTMGR is missing...any help?

    Well in that case, boot from the Ubuntu CD and install GRUB.

    What OS are you using now? If you are using 7 now, you may consider making a repair disc now.

    and thats the problem i cant boot up anything.if i try to boot ubuntu from flash drive or disc it always say BOOTMGR is missing...i thought its problem with my ubuntu flash drive but its not i tryed also gentoo and fedora...same problem...so i think if someone can upload bootmgr file actually the GOOD bootmgr file and i replace it maybe it will work...

    Go into your BIOS and change the boot order to boot from the CD first.

    i am using windows 7 right now...
    i put that order in bios already...cd/dvd,hard disk/removable drive/network boot.

    Well it sounds like your computer is ignoring the BIOS setting. If you have set the BIOS boot order to DVD > HDD > Removable Drive > Network Boot. then it should do just that and not try to load an OS.
