Windows 7 and Veryfind DMI Pool Data

Hello everyone!

I'm posting this as a last hope for a solution. I've already read 10000 topics about this problem but to no avail. Here's the background information: My computer is not old, it's ancient. I wanted to install win7 and see how it will cope.

I bought the ultimate edition which now I understood is wrong because someone said it's heavier than the rest? I don't know about that.

My pc is:
Motherboard (click to see the horror)
AthlonXP1900+
768 SDRAM (133mhz)
80GB Seagate HDD (3 partitions 15 - 30 - 35)
GF 6600 GT

The main problem I faced was that I have no DVD reader or USB so I had to have the installation directly from my HDD. After 2 failed attempts I finally did it correctly and was hoping it will work but no.

Everything installed properly and at the LAST load when I finally got to set the clock, pick username etc.. Win7 started doing some finalization settings and then restarted.

After this the pc froze at Verifying DMI Pool Data. I tried at least 10 times.
Loaded the fail-safe defaults of the bios, the optimised defaults etc etc. Nothing helped. The bios is also flashed to the latest version, sadly from 2004

Now I do realize my PC is crap. But I was convinced that it should be able to run 7.

So now I'm just seeking for a concrete answer and explanation. I'm happy with XP but I was really excited to check out 7 and toy around with it

Hi and welcome


Pool data is just information stored on boot in bios. Ususally either a bios upgrade (may not be possible) or a CMOS battery reset will clear.

Hi, as I already said in the post - I did update the bios long time ago to the latest version possible. But that version was from 2004. It really is an old PC.

So the CMOS battery option remains? But then again - why was I able to install XP again with no problem ? I did the XP and 7 reinstalls a few times until I gave up.
