Changing Primary HD

There is only one HD when i unplug the IDE drive...

Let's try the bootrec commands manually:

Boot into the Win7 DVD repair console, open a command line and type:

bootrec.exe /fixboot
bootrec.exe /fixmbr

now restart the computer, if Win7 doesn't start boot back into Win7 DVD repair console and run startup repair 3 times.

If this fails again, then let's try one more command:

Bootsect.exe /nt60 all /force

then run Startup repair again 3 times to see if it will come to life.

If you have the free Partition Wizard bootable CD, could you post back the exact listings it gives for your SATA HD. Make sure it is marked active, if not rightclick Modfy>Set to active then run Startup repair from the Win7 DVD.

If the Win7 HD is marked active, then these commands and Startup Repair should start it unless there is unknown corruption.

I wonder why Startup Repair cannot achieve this in some cases. Bootrec and Bootsect are supposed to be automated in Win7 Startup Repair.

Makes me wonder if it is being run enough times, or it if is not consistent in its fixes.

Every times i did the *startup repair* it says "no boot problems found". I think that it does some test that are unable to understand if Fixmbr of fixboot are necessary. But, if those 2 commands are not dangerous, why don't perform them in all cases?
