Installation stuck with a command prompt window

Hi,

I'm having an installation problem. I've previously done an installation of windows7 on my PC with no problems. However, I decided to reinstall windows when my PC was having some issues. I've chosen the 'upgrade' option when reinstalling windows. The problem came when I got a BSOD midway through installation and now the installation is stuck with a command prompt window that says:

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]

X:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Windows\system32>

also, BIOS fails to detect my harddisk and booting from the DVD leads me back to the same command prompt window.

Please advise on the best way to continue installation. Thanks!

Sorry to say, but your upgrade carried over the problem.

Try a :clean: install.

Try booting from the DVD by tapping F-key given on first bootscreen for Boot Menu.

Did you burn the DVD yourself? Have you used it successfully before?

Try booting from a flash stick. Write the ISO to flash using Ultra ISO bootable tab. Boot from stick under Hard drives using Boot Menu f-key.

I managed to solve the problem by unplugging one of my HDD and then booted up with the setup disk. Seems that windows 7 was having some kind of difficulty when both my HDD was plugged in. I plugged in the other HDD only after windows installation was done.

I have the same problem and when I go into BIOS all of my bootable devices are disabled. Have tried to system restore/repair but keeps failing. I have a Dell desktop Inspiron and started to have issues so I decided to re-install Windows 7 but chose the update option and that's when the trouble started. Please advise

Thanks for the help hopefully I can get it to work. Will chime back in when I have tried it out. BTW, is this a common problem when reloading Windows 7? Also do you know of a good website to find out about current viruses and what they do so maybe you can be proactive when your system acts a certain way.

One more thing in my BIOS all of my bootable devices have been disabled. They have () around them.
