Install Stuck a 60% of last step

I got the free windows 7 disc shipped from Toshiba for my laptop. I have the E105 series, 4 gb ram, 500 gb HDD, Centrino 2 Processor. I tried uninstalling programs, updating the BIOS, ans such. The Wireless has to be unistalled and disabled, so I cannot chose the option to connect to the internet and get updates. Its possible for me to get a hardwire if that might help. I've tried 5 times and every time i get the same result. I'm fairly competent at a computer, but I don't want to disassemble anything since I bought a 3 year warranty for lot of $$$ that cover accidental damage, and that gets voided if I open the bottom of the laptop. Throw me some sugesstions, because its stuck at 60% everytime, even after upgrading the BIOS.

Doing a clean install instead of an upgrade should work.. or you can try this...

    1. Reboot the computer and the setup will automatically rollback the system to Windows Vista.
    2. Click Start, and right-click Computer.
    3. Click Properties, and then click Advanced System Settings.
    4. Click Environment Variables.
    5. Under System Variables, click New, and then press ENTER.
    6. Type in the following variable information: Variable Name: MIG_UPGRADE_IGNORE_PLUGINS
      Variable value: IphlpsvcMigPlugin.dll
    7. Restart Windows 7 Setup.

ok because to even get to the install i have to use windows upgrade advisor and also Toshiba Upgrade Assistant, which basically won't let the Win 7 install start unless the system is totally compatible. Thanks i'm gonna try and change the system variables

Are you booting from the Win7 DVD and using Custom install Advanced drive tools to format the HD first?

This is the cleanest possible install, with no corruption carried over from prior installation.

Afterward you can find any drivers missing in Device Manager, along with favorite apps, on the drivers/apps CD which should be included with the Uprade Kit, or from the Support Downloads page for your computer model.

install failed again, a clean install is not an option because i don't have backups of most of my music, videos, or programs. Idk what to do, i may take it to best buy because thats where I have my 3 year warranty

You can backup/burn your music and pics to CD's. Videos will need to be burned to DVD's.
If you have kept the 'installer' and keys for your programs, they can be burned too.

Let us know what they charge to install for you.

I think they charge $100 minimum just to recover data, even under warranty.

If you can get the data off, then booting from the DVD to clean install might work.

Always back up your data before doing any install.
