Easy Upgrade Windows Vista Any Version to Any Version 7 BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP (always create a system backup of your files before attempting anykind of upgrade supported or unsuported)
Open regedit *if you don't know what this is don't attempt this*
Change
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProductName
From
Windows Vista (TM) Home Premium
To
Windows Vista (TM) Business
and change
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\EditionID
From
Home Premium
To
Business
Insert 7 Disk and perform a normal upgrade
tested from vista home premium to windows 7 pro and vista ultimate to windows 7 pro has not been tested for home basic but in theory should work and in theory you should be able to change the word business to ultimate and go from home premium to ultimate but again I have not tried that nor have I tried to go from vista business to 7 home premium but you should be able to change those to keys and bypass the vista version issue and I believe this is a simpler solution to the Windows 7 RC upgrade but I can't try that because I already did that upgrade before I solved this issue
