Have you confirmed you have the latest BIOS version?

What was the problem with the ISO that caused you to recompile from DVD files?

Did you attempt to write ISO to stick using this method: USB Windows 7 Installation Key Drive - Create

Did you then recompile files into ISO using this method: Bootable ISO - Create from Installation Files

Are you running the installer from the OS or booting it from BIOS? Try the other option.

Can you run or boot the installer on another computer so that it gets further into the install?
Thanks am going to try those two methods on that site now.

How do you confirm the latest BIOS. I been trying to work that out for quite some time now.

Also in all my stuffing around with my netbook I partitioned the drive and atm it is blank

Again: What was the problem with the ISO that caused you to recompile from DVD files?

The preferred method is to write the ISO to flash using UltraISO as given in the first tutorial. Wondering why you recompiled the files if you had an ISO.

Check your installed BIOS version on the first bootup screen or entering BIOS Setup using the key given on that screen. Then look on the Support Downloads webpage for your computer model to see if there is a more recent version to download and install.

You can also try resetting the CMOS in the BIOS when you are there: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/tp/clearcmos.htm

I see you had Linus before. I would nuke the HD wth DBAN to make sure it is rid of that code.

Problem with iso was that the dvd/usb tool said the iso was invalid.

I had a thought. Could you run the windows install from a usb key that has booted into windows pe?

I tried the two methods you listed. The first one is the one I was using before but tried it again with the same result.

The vlite gives me the same error re the iso being invalid.

This means the ISO needs to be downloaded again.

The files you extracted to recreate the ISO were corrupt as well.

This is the source of your install problems.

Download the ISO again, load into ImgBurn, check that it says bootable, then burn at 4x speed with Verify.

    sorry misunderstood me there.

I bought a physical dvd copy from a local store. Created an ISO from this. It has worked for other. IF this is a problem I will have to find a dvd drive to add to the netbook.

If you copy the files from the DVD into Vlite, then it should compile the ISO with no problem.

What error does it give and when?

You can also try formatting your USB flash stick Primary in Disk Management, loading the files into the root exactly as they appear on DVD, then trying to boot it that way. It always works for me. Tap the key given on first bootup screen for Boot Menu; look under Hard Drives.

Try also Win2Flash which also uses Files to create the bootable flash stick.

vlite works fine then when you use the windows dvd creation tool it says invalid iso.

I will try to just copy it all across now. However that is pretty much the way it says to do it by the other method isn't it?

EDIT: Also there is no bios update on the Kogan website.

Use UltraISO trial version Bootable tab to write ISO you load in first.

Here is the tute for that: Bootable ISO - Create from Installation Files

Here is the Win2Flash video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srOoGhm-jcI

WinToFlash - Install Windows from usb - Home page I believe it uses files.

Another method to extract the ISO from DVD is ImgBurn: Attachment 44703
