    GATEWAY/YUKON PXE V6.60-.1.2 Pre-boot eXe Environment

Used Gateway md7818u laptop (missing install disks). Came with no spin drive (ST9500325AS) so I installed a replacement drive (ST9500325AS) after initializing, formatting, (Set Active partition) writing to it...testing it successfully as an external drive on an XP Pro desktop. Drive worked fine. Now I moved drive to Gateway md7818u laptop and it is not detected:

    System starts with:

    SN/ 5VJ1NPC9
    ST9500420AS
    P/N 9HV144-300

Called the (notorious) Gateway Tech Support and after being hung up on three times got a tech who emailed me this file: MT6840_BIOS_7715
But I can't seem to find a way to get it loaded. F6 in Windows 7, or XT or Vista doesn't work. In my third day of installation. Help! The Mother Of All Hard Installs.

    System:
    Gateway md7818u Laptop, Serial #90707840926 LXW730X006907 132492600

    Intel® Core™2 Duo T6400 Mobile Processor2 (2.0GHz, 800MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache)

    Thanks in advance!

I dont think so? Was the drive checked, i know it was new but i have the EXACT same page displayed after swapping a recently (1/20/11) purchased HTS543232L9A302 from my daughters fubared system with mine.We have identical mc7801u Gateways, Her symptoms were slow to no boot, then finally it was just the windows desktop with nothing on it. Cry, Cry, do we gotta put her down daddy?Ok so i took the 30-ought six and the comp to the wood shed...., where i swapped my drive with hers. Blam...seems her machine is a little snappier, runs cooler and more stable than mine, her newer drive in mine reacted the same as in hers, slow to no boot. After KillDisk, I recieved identical page as Namrog above, now aside from getting bad HD's is there something we missed? Baby wants a new system and I could use the parts but, come on there was a time when we fixed what we broke and held others to an elevated standard around here. And who sold out over at Gateway to Acer, allowing them to completely dismantle their competition. Their name please? God Bless America , were gonna need it!

BTW her HD came from Server Supply of Freemont, Ca. And if anyone can assist in getting this supposed MT6840_BIOS_7715 into a loadable configuration for a wiped system, please dont be shy. Im starting the breath hold....now
