windows 7 professional install problems

I see Greg is watching - good,.

After restart - install should complete in 6-7 mins.

You won't have automatic dual boot - just add the other o/s to 7 bcd in the usual way - Greg will talk you thru that.

If it doesn't install after restart - that suggests your pc can't handle it.

If you want to install by running setup from an existing o/s - you don't get the Drive Options (advanced) - you need a partition ready made.

If you want to use the extract install.wim method - you need a partition to extract it to.

Check in Disk Management and see if the new HD is recognized.

Next to (probably) Disk 1 it may show as Unknown, the size, Not Initialized. Rt click on Disk 1, Click Initialize Disk.

When it is initialized to MBR , you can create and format partitions

Thisisboo2000, would you mind telling me what DVD drive you have. I would like to see if I can check its capabilities to see what is different from mine that might possibly keep it from reading the pressed Win 7 install disc.

If you don't know, msinfo32.exe will tell you under components-CD-ROM. While you are there, also check the firmware version, which would be down in the PNP Device ID line just after the model number.

Also, I have found it useful to take advantage of the Shift+F10 during an install or repair. Being able to open a Command window allows use of DiskPart and several other utilities. I just used it to partition a drive to get around Windows telling me it wanted to make the 100mb partition.

ok so this is where I am with this its soooooooooooooo frustrating and I am lost as to what to do ,,, ok the copy of windows ultimate is a pirated version its on my old hard drive, now my new hard drive is empty so it would be a clean install of windows 7 professional 64 bit and its a registered version and the problem I am having is at the expanding files part I always get this error code ox80070037 it may be at 5% or 11% or whatever but it always stops and gives me this error message and no one can seem to tell me **** about it ...........please someone HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to know what that error message means I thought it was my disc so I downloaded a ISO of windows 7 and burned it on to another disc ....well that did the same thing again.......

If fail, burn another DVD at 4x with Verify.

Ok I have tried everything I even went and bought a new dvd rom thinking that is the only thing that I haven't bought new and still no luck...... However I found something very interesting and I wonder if someone can help me I wanted to see if it was my hard drive so I tried to install xp on it and it wouldn't even boot from the cd it got to the part where it says inspecting your hardware configuration and then it went all black but yet on my old hard drive it booted from that cd with no problem.... and I found out its not the cd at all cuz I took it in to the computer shop and they ran the cd on one of thier computers and it ran fine so I am thinking its my new hard drive but what are the chances of 2 new hard drives failing ???? my next question is , is thier a difference between 2 differen't types of sata drives cuz I have heard of sata 1 and sata 2 now if the old one is sata 1 and the new is sata 2 then does that make a difference ???? PLEASE SOMEONE HELP !!!!

Did you try the bootable USB flash installer method recommended earlier?

You can determine with certainty whether the problem is with your HD by running Seatools diagnostics/repair scan.

I believe the SATA1/2 you are referring to are the ports you have them plugged into on the mobo. You might verify they show correctly in your BIOS setup, and also check the SATA controller setting..
