Windows 7 Installation Limits

Hey guys,

My computer (custom build) currently has Windows Vista installed. I plan to build practically an entirely new computer and sell my old one after wiping the drives. I kind of want to experience Windows 7 right now, but I am not building my new computer for around 6 more months. If I buy Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit now and install it on this machine, will I have any issues installing it on my new computer, given that I am wiping the drives on my current one before selling? Is there an activation limit?

Thanks,
James

p.s. Anyone want to buy a computer in 6 months?

If you have a RETAIL product key , you are allowed to move it to a different machine, if you take it off the first one.

You will likely need to call MS free activation line to activate.

There is no actual install limit. If however you push it to the limit, lets say 5 or 6 in a month or two, the key will not intitially work. You will be directed to a touch tone phone, where it may or may not work. If that does not work, the phone will be picked up by a person. If you explain, in an honest way, you will be activated.

Thanks for the quick responses and info. I was afraid I'd have to wait 6 months, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I hear 7 is much better than Vista. I dislike Vista a lot.

7 has all the features that you wished for in Vista. I had Vista, also.

That's a shame, because 7 is a refined version of Vista.

As long as it is refined in the right places, I think 7 and I will get along swimmingly.
