I’ve just upgraded my Windows 7 install to build 7057. Now when I open my music library, with close to 700 music folders in it, all folder icons display multiple pictures instead of just a single folder picture as was the case with previous builds, Vista and XP.
See here:
In this screenshot, I have manually corrected two folders, and left the others as there were created by build 7057. Each folder contains just one single image file, called Folder.jpg.
In order to have just the one folder picture displayed, I need to manually select a picture under Properties | Customize | Choose File. Needless to say that doing this close to 700 times sort of gets rather tedious real quick. Funny thing is, doing this creates a desktop.ini file in each folder, which was to be expected. However, when I now delete that desktop.ini file, the folder maintains just the single folder picture.
Clearly there is some bug in this build with the desktop.ini files (see the well documented, and easily fixed, startup desktop.ini bug).
Does anyone know of a way to tell Windows 7 to just display (for all folder icons) a single folder picture (instead of multiples of the same) if folders contain just a single image file? I suspect it’s probably some sort of registry tweak, but can’t seem to find anything relevant.
All help would be
very much appreciated- thanks.
