    Cause I stopped formatting. :P I got myself into the habit of not formatting as a safeguard. Just in case I forgot to back something up. But yes, the installer does not format unless you told it to format.

    But how did you know it didn't format?

    What tells you this?

    Not a new HD, but one which already has an OS on it.

    My tech swears that it applies formatting whether we choose it or not, during the Copying Files phase - booted or not.

    But then, how would windows.old survive?
