Upgrading from 7100, drivers failure

Hi!

I've been trying to upgrade RC to RTM using an Ultimate 32-bit upgrade version.

Installation stops at "Expanding windows files" stage, at 21% when it informs that Windows needs to restart, and gives an error message - required driver could not be installed (see attached).

The error log (also attached) reads "Failed to find driver file path. Error=00000002x[gle=0x80092004]"
several times, and finally quits.

I'm installing from a folder on the hardrive, after copying the DVD to it and changing the required cversion.ini. When I tried to burn it back to a DVD and install from it, it keeps using the same partition for temp files, btw.

Any idea how to solve this? Thanks in advance... I'm getting really frustrated here...

The obvious thing to try is installing in a standard fashion, from an optical drive...

If it fails during expanding files, then there is something wrong with the installer.

You might want to try extracting, editing the ISO again.

Can you afford to clean install? Even though in-place RC upgrades have been working for some, they were warned against by MS and might not be best for you in this case.

Booting the DVD to do a Custom install using Drive Options to format is a much better install, and will work with the Upgrade version seeing the RC to allow key.

I truly want to avoid a clean install becasue of all the hassle of installing applications.
I tried to re-copy the disk (I have a physical original disk) but it didn't help... so was trying to burn the folder back to an empty DVD...

Is there any chance that if I install Hebrew MUI on the RC and try to do the same trick with an Hebrew Upgrade disk, it would work?

Where did you buy your Lic & ISO from?

It's not an ISO - It's a physical DVD. It's a students and faculty version, supplied for teaching staff through the ministry of Education in Israel. I have both English and Hebrew versions DVDs, both marked Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit upgrade; September 2009 Systems Student Media.

Try upgrading while using a clean startup: in msconfig>services tick the "Hide all MS services" box then disable all remaining services.

Now restart the computer and attempt the Upgrade again.

Next try copying the files from DVD to desktop, run setup from there.

Do you have the latest BIOS version given on first bootup screen or by Entering BIOS setup? Check your maker's Support Downloads webpage for latest version.

Are all peripheral devices removed.

Run the WIndows Memory Diagnostic test.

No luck... :/

Next try updating all of your drivers. Check the Device Manager to make sure no hardware is in error state.

Check Windows Updates for newer, then the Support Downloads page for your computer model.

Next check the Support Downloads page for your model mobo to see if these are different and might help.

Then the manufacturer's Support downloads page for your display adapter, sound, ethernet/wireless adapters.
