    Question about dual boot

Hi guys i have a Acer aspire 4937g laptop i wanted to reformat to windows xp but it keep giving me blue screen death after loading the setup. I can reformat vista and windows 7 without any problem. Why i cant reformat to windows xp?
any help? someone told me "XP doesn't support SATA so go to your bios set it on RAID or IDE." is it true? If i change it to RAID or IDE will my main windows file get affected? And RAID or IDE better?

Are you booting the XP CD to install to a second partition you have already created in Win7 Disk Management?

You'll need to shrink Win7, create a New partition, but wait to format it from the XP installer as it uses a slightly different partition table.

This might solve the problem. If not, then you may need to load the SATA drivers into the XP installer at the F6 prompt during the initial driver-loading phase.

You did not respond the this question: Are you booting the XP CD to install to a second partition?

Can you provide details of the blue screen? Get details about the Blue Screen of Death

If your SATA controller is what is needed, it will be in the XP chipset drivers for your model posted on Acer's Support Downloads page for your model here: Acer Support - Download Drivers

Unzip file to flash stick or CD to load in using F6 when prompted during early driver-loading phase.

    yes.

The blue screen death say this:
Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed drivers or hard driver controllers, check your hard drive make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption and then restart your computer.

    Technical information:

    stop: 0x0000007B (0X78D2524, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X000000000

    Stop: 0x0000007B (0X78D2524, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X000000000

That stop error means Windows XP does not have the driver for your hard drive controller. You need to go to the vendor’s web site and download the drivers for your Hard Drive Controller, Video Card and Network Card for Windows XP. Once you have those three drivers you should be able to install Windows XP. (make sure you put the drivers on floppy disks, 3 disks, 1 disk for each driver, when installing press F6 and then load each disk)

Note: Most vendors of new laptops no longer provide drivers for Windows XP. This is a known problem and one that I have run into many times.

2nd Note: You should install Windows XP with a CD that has Service Pack 3 integrated into the disc. You have the best chance of getting it to work because Service Pack 3 works better with most hardware.

3rd Note: You will most likely break Windows 7 installing Windows XP. That is because Windows 7 boots completely different. You will have to do a Windows 7 repair and hope that it will pick up the Windows XP so you can dual boot. (Unless your laptop has the BIOS option to boot from 2 different partitions) This can be a very tricky install.

Follow Method Two in this tutorial to dual boot Win7/XP with XP installed last: Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP

Your Acer has XP drivers for SATA controller on the Downloads page linked earlier. If you have no floppy to load the unzipped drivers at F6 prompt during driver-loading phase of XP install, you'll need to slipstream them into the installer.

I would follow the advice given to also slipstream SP3 in by downloading the standalone SP3 from MS website and choosing the Service Pack, Drivers and Bootable ISO options in Nlite explained here: How To Slipstream SATA Drivers Into XP CD
