    Boot Issue

    Hi,

I'm running a GA-M59SLI-S5 motherboard, 2Gb Ram and using the RAID controller to mirror two 320Gb WDC disks.

If I attach a 40Gb IDE drive to the system, I can load Win7 Pro fine and see the 320Gb raid perfectly.

If I boot of the raid controller, I can get to the first Win7 Pro reboot on installation yet it won't load. It just sits at "Starting Windows". If I use safemode, it stops on CI.sys and again just waits for something.

I'm using the JMicron driver as the Gigabyte driver caused a randomly different crash each time.

This just doesn't make any sense.

Hi Axel, welcome to windows 7 support forums.
In order to assist you better in trouble shooting this issue please fill out your system specs.
Also, are you seeing the ide drive in bios? And what are its settings and boot priority?

    Best Regards,
    Adrian

Win7 is allergic to RAID. You'd be better off removing RAID, using a single HD with AHCI controller setting.

    Hi,

Sorry for the delay, having a few issues getting online ,)

    Right, system spec is:

    GeForce 7600 GS
The IDE drive is a Maxtor 6L060J3
    The RAID-1 is 2x WDC3200YS-01PGB0
    AMD x2 4800+

Boot-wise, I can see all drives in BIOS. When I install win7 on the RAID-1 I set it as 2nd priority after the DVD. I tend to unplug the IDE to save the installer getting confused. Win7 will install then die on first restart.

If I do a completely seperate install on the IDE disk, again removing the RAID and changing the boot priority, I have a slow but working system. If I plug the RAID in, the IDE based install will see the RAID-1 disk.
