Is it still possible to upgrade Vista to Win7 as of 2017?

An elderly relative of mine has Vista 32-bit Home Premium, and with Microsoft support ending shortly I was wondering if the upgrade path from Vista to Win7 is still a possibility, or whether Win10 is the only upgrade available now (I seem to recall reading that people were having issues with their Win7 keys not being activated but it was Youtube so it could be wrong). There are cheap OEM copies out there, and I'm just wondering if I'd be wasting my money/time getting one.

    Thanks.

    Hi HandsomeDevil,
MS pulled that option a while back.
As for W7 licences, the CHEAP ones you'll find on the web are likely non-genuine.
You can get W7 Pro, either System Builder or Retail ONLY (£130), in a couple places box.com, Novatech or try a local dedicated custom builder.
W10 is a lot easier to come by tho.

End of support doesn't mean that Vista wont work the same way it used to.
You just have to have a good Firewall and anti virus.
I wouldn't spent £130 on a Win 7 or Win 10 license to put on an old hardware.

The best option on old hardware is a Linux OS.
I use Lubuntu. GUI is similar to Windows. lubuntu | lightweight, fast, easier

You can update to Windows 7
There is an app called Windows ISO Downloader
You can install windows 7/8/10 and Insider Preview
    With any language you want
And you can select your own architecture ( 32bit/64bit )

You are correct Nick127. Anybody can download and install any Windows operating system they choose. They will also need a valid COA key to properly activate Windows. You can not buy just a legal COA key by itself.

Windows 7 legal COA keys only come with a legal Microsoft DVD. They are bought together in one package.
