Windows 7: Windows 7 OEM in Toshiba laptop

I recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite L505-S5990 laptop with W7HP pre-installed.
Since it came in English and my first language is Spanish , I want to reinstall Windows 7 in that language, and also rid myself of all the crapware (you wouldn't believe how slow it behaves sometimes, wasn't Windows 7 faster than Vista? )
I already have an installation DVD of Windows 7 in Spanish, all I need is the Toshiba certificate in order to activate the laptop after reinstall. Can somebody point me to a Toshiba certificate?

It is called a key number. It contains many number and at least 3 letters, OEM. Back or side or bottom (if laptop) of your computer.

No, no....the CD key I have, as you stated in the bottom of the laptop, a sticker called W7HP OA.
But I am not going to use the restore CD that came with the Toshiba since it's in English too
I'm gonna use a Technet DVD in spanish, retail type. Since I've got no cdkey for that one, I want to use the OEM cdkey. It will accept it on the installation, but for the activation it will not. That's why I need the Toshiba cert: a xrm-ms file.

You would be better extracting the activation info. from the current installation first. Then installing the Spanish version. Then restore the activation. Too late if you already installed the Spanish Edition. Unless you are able to restore to factory condition from the recovery partition/Toshiba recovery discs.Then start from there.

You will probably find the key on the bottom of the machine is different anyway. That is the proper MS individual key that comes with the license. If it doesn't activate - phone Toshiba - they should sort it out for you.

Ok, I have not reinstalled Windows 7 yet, so....
When I had a Gateway w/Vista I did as I told you at the beginning: format drive, reinstall Vista in spanish and then activate with a Vista certificate I found on a tech blog site.
Do I do the same for Windows 7 in my Toshiba laptop? Or can I extract the info as you say? And how?

I think it would be much easier for you to use the key on the sticker. Ring Toshiba - they should activate for you.

Some oems require you to ring to activate if you use that key - some don't.

Dell keys from the sticker on the machine seem to activate straight away online.

People often do what you are doing - not usually to change language - more often to have a clean install with no unwantedware.

This was much easier on a DIY desktop.
I will proceed with the reinstalling, do I enter the OEM cdkey on install, or later during activation? And when do I call Toshiba?

If it doesn't activate - you need to call Tosh.
