How to Upgrade Vista to W7 on a Dual Boot System

    Hello guys,

Currently, when I boot, my mobo checks for my Adaptec4805SAS MBR, which is handled by Vista Boot Manager, which consists on two options:

    1. Boot Windows Vista (One logic drive inside a RAID array)
    2. Boot Windows XP (another logic drive inside ANOTHER RAID array)

I've run the update assessment tool from Microsoft and it tells me there is no worries about the Adaptec driver (Does it means its embedded on the original DVD?)

I'm wondering if Windows 7 will let me choose the Vista partition, format and install on it, replacing the "Boot Windows Vista" entry on the boot manager, but keeping the Windows XP entry.

Is it going to be that way? Does Windows 7 REPLACE (with DELETION) Windows Vista Boot Manager?

    Thanks early!

Yes, Win7 will reconfigure the Dual Boot accurately.

The only complication might be in the RAID array which can sometimes confuse the installer, but if it worked for Vista then it should be okay for Win7.

    Hi gregrocker, thanks for replying.

I installed firstly Windows XP (integrating RAID drivers into ISO image).

Secondly I installed Vista (also I had to integrate before the raid drivers to make installer detect logic drives properly.

So if you say It will work in the same manner as with Vista.. I'll try tomorrow! :) I'll post about it.

    Thanks
