Hi, welcome to SF

Step 1 - connecting the drives
On your motherboard you have two sata controllers, one has 6 ports and the other has two marked as gsata (not esata these are ignored) your SSD needs to be plugged into the main sata ports (the group of six) along with all your other sata drives (optical etc) and your two WD blacks need to be plugged into the gsata ports

Step 2 - enable raid
Enter your bios by pressing esc or del (i think) and then you need to enable raid but be careful as there are two places you can enable it you need to enable the gsata raid controlled by Jmicron (cant remember exactly how it will appear in your bios) then press F10 save and exit

Step 3 - setup raid
On reboot after post screen you will see a new screen that says press ctrl & I (i think but may be another letter possibly G) to enter raid bios, press these keys and this will take you to setup screen then just follow the options on screen to setup the raid in whatever configuration you desire

Im not at home at the moment where i have a gigabyte mobo setup in raid if you have any probs post back and i will update this tomo with exact wording/letters as they will appear for you

Hope this helps

Flashing firmware on to devices and bios onto motherboard can render them useless if not done properly or an error occurs
Unless theres a feature missing from your drive thats available in a firmware update then its probably best left alone if your unsure.

Post your exact model number and firmware version (which apparently samsung write on the product sticker) see if your missing anything

Im struggling to find a definitive answer for you

The only thing you should be concerned with is whether your drive has trim support, if not then it might be worthwhile looking into more as this helps prevent performance loss over time, if it already has trim then i wouldnt worry about it

Hopefully someone else will chip in that has one of these or knows

You should make sure that you have a firmware level that supports Trim. This is very important for the write performance on the SSD. I am not familiar with the Samsung SSD because I use Intel and OCZ SSDs. But I am sure you can find out.
And if Samsung does not have any Trim firmware, find out whether they have a Wiper with which you can clean the disk freeespace from time to time.

Whilst looking around i think that ocz and samsung use the same firmware and are possibly the same drive? i think samsung make em for them, worth checking out
