    Update problem, asking for drivers

    Hello everyone.

I'm trying to upgrade to Windows 7 from windows vista. After following the 1st steps i'm getting the following message:

    · Windows Vista Ultimate Extras have been discontinued and will no longer be available after upgrading to Windows 7.

Upgrading Windows will affect the following devices and/or programs:

These devices might not work properly after the upgrade. Before upgrading, we recommend updating the drivers for these devices. Cancel the upgrade, open Control Panel and search for "update device drivers", or go to the device manufacturer's website to search for updated drivers.

      • Storage controllers: SCSI/RAID Host Controller

I did what that message says and it doesnt find any new drivers. I want to avoid an unistallation for various reasons. Has anyone solved that upgrade problem?

My system's specs are in my profile, if anyone needs anything more i can post it here.

You said that "it doesn't find any new drivers" so I'm assuming you used the autosearch on Drivers tab in Device Manager. That isn't enough. You need to search for the latest storage controller drivers on the Gigabyte webpage for your mobo model, then install them.

I'm not so familiar with what this device is or what it does, so under what category shall i search for drivers (on Gigabyte's site)?

Storage controller, a part of your chipset.

It will be on Support Downloads webpage for your model mobo. I assume you built this yourself since there is no computer model listed. If you'd listed either model number we could have found them for you.

As you are doing an in-place Upgrade, you'll need to update your Vista drivers as instructed by Upgrade Advisor to get it to run right.
