    Windows 7 Hidden Partition

I intend installing Windows 7 Ultimate sometime in the next few weeks onto a new computer. I also intend installing two drives in a raid 0 array.

I have read quite a lot in regards the hidden partition made when installing Windows 7 most dealing with how to work around the issue, but I’m still unsure about the exact detail. For instance most readings state format and partition before or when installing Windows 7, other say to just format. I would rather not have a partitioned main drive, so would it be okay if I just formatted the drives before starting the raid array? Would this stop the installation of the hidden partition?

I would also like to find more information in regards the benefits in installing Windows 7 with the hidden partition; if you have any links that would throw light onto the subject I would be most appreciative.

It really isn't hidden, just not lettered. If you want to be able to use the repair options without needing to boot to the Install DVD, it is good to have it. It does, however take up a primary partition, if that might be a problem.

If you have a problem and Win 7 insists on installing the partition, you might be able the use the Shift+F10 and run Diskpart to format the drive first. This is normally not necessary since there are disk options available.

Please note, I have no experiece with RAID installs. But make sure you have the RAID drives available, just in case.
