I had made a previous thread about dual booting, and one operating system would dominate. Well right now i have both xp and 7 installed on this laptop and 7 is dominating and i cant choose between them, I was wondering how can i get XP to dominate, that is my main concern right now. I cant get a boot into xp, so if someone could help me that would be great.
I see the window where you are suppose to choose from but it goes away to fast..
I got it, in bootloader the timing was set to 0 seconds.
Try formatting the new HD first.
Boot DVD>Repair console>Recovery tools, open Command Line, type:
DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK # (replace # with Win7 target HD)
clean
create partition primary
select partition 1
assign letter=c:
active
format
exit
Now reboot DVD, select Custom install, highlight DISK0 for install.
Just wanted to say a big thank you to the posters in this thread. With the help of this thread (and a few others) I was finally able to get my new laptop to dual boot with Win 7 and XP. It took about a week and a lot of headaches, but I finally got it.
The answer for me was to slipstream a Windows XP SP2 disc with SP3 as well as the custom SATA drivers for my laptop. In case it's of help to anyone else, here's the link about how to do this.
Slipstream Win XP SP2 disc with SP3
Hope it helps!
