easiest way from win7RC to win7

I have been using windows 7 ultimate RC1 or something like that, for the past ... 120 days.
I have a complete win7 ultimate DVD. Is it possible to install win7 "ontop" of rc1 without having to reinstall everything else, along with settings etc.

Or is there a way to tell the RC1 to use my DVD activation serial key?

    Any advice is appreciated!

I did what you are planning and this is was my plan.
    1. Backed up all my data
    2. Gathered all my software disks and serial numbers etc.
    3. Backedup my Outlook mail and address book, rules. Outlook.pst
    4. Reformatted HD
    5. Fresh clean install with access to internet for any updates, drivers, etc.

I always feel a fresh full clean install will be the best bet.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

I havent tried this so i cant vouch for it but i think its the same proccess you can do to downgrade from 64bit to 32bit with just different words.I know Gregrocker can vouch that the downgrade works, not sure about this though.

I'm also a proponent of a complete and full reinstall. Especially with Windows 7 that has native drivers for so many pieces of hardware that you don't really have to download and install too many drivers to get it working well. This also provides a way to clean up the applications that you have installed or at least get the latest versions if you haven't been keeping them all up to date.

One of the big suprises with Win7 release is the the RC can be upgraded to any version with no performance hit, using this easy workaround: Upgrade the Windows 7 RC to any retail version Icrontic Tech

You can always clean install when you get around to it if it doesn't suit you.
