Most of the users here ( myself included ) recommend doing a clean install of any operating system... When you upgrade, you run the risk of keeping a lot of left over garbage from the previous OS... I have heard of upgrades taking 8 hours or better to finish... Do a clean install.. you'll be glad you did..

I had tried both: clean installation 30min, upgrade 3hours.

And there's your answer, as it will also help to troubleshoot should you run into any issues, and Samuelg makes a good point too.

It means that if the driver you are looking for is not on that page, windows 7 will install it...

Microsoft doesnt write device drivers, the manufacturer does... I dont intend to argue the subject...you asked a valid question and got several answers all saying the same thing...what you do now is up to you.... Ta...

See, Windows 7 includes many generic drivers. That means that if you install it, you will be able to use the machine at least, just maybe without a few hardware features.

So Acer has released their custom drivers. They only work with that specific hardware, but they work better.

If you have any doubts about compatibility, run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. That is good to run, anyway.

    Hope this helps,
