    Many setup problems

    Hi,

I bought Windows 7 Pro Update version from Microsoft. They sent me a french copy (what the hell?) and now, I'm stuck with this version. Since I had a previous Vista English, I couldn't Upgrade, so I decided to do a clean install.

After the installation, when they ask my CD-Key, I entered the one I received by email (I bought the 39.99$US student deal on the Internet) and I get the message "Invalid CD Key". What the hell? What's the point of buying a Windows 7 official CD if you go into some validation problems? So I decide to leave the field blank and to continue the install.

Now, I'm trying to validate it and I receive this annoying message

L'erreur suivante s'est produite lors de l'utilisation de la clé du produit:

    Code :
    0xC004F061

    Description:
Le service de gestion de licences a déterminé que cette clé de produit spécifiée peut uniquement être utilisée pour une mise à niveau, pas pour de nouvelles installations.
For English people, it means my key is invalid because I can only use it to do an upgrade. What the hell one more time? I just installed this Windows 7 when my Vista EN was on my harddrive before...

Any idea to fix this issue and maybe also to change the language to English (even if I don't own the Ultimate version...).

Thanks a lot for your support!

    Welcome!

First, it is not possible to change languages unless you have Ultimate. I suggest contacting Microsoft and seeing about an exchange.

If you are willing to use the French version, try following this tutorial: Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

    Hope this helps,

I think if you act quickly on Jonathans advice, you will be able to exchange the copy. They will cancel the old and give you a new one. The quicker you act the better off you will be.
