Back up your files, unplug all other HD's and peripherals,

Boot into BIOS setup to see if there is an EFI Boot Disk in BIOS Boot order. If so remove it, set DVD drive first to boot. If EFI BIOS also set to Legacy BIOS. Then set SATA controller to AHCI. Save changes and Exit.

Then boot into installer DVD or flash stick burned or written using tool and latest ISO for your licensed here. Otherwise make sure your DVD is clean and unscratched

    CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=102400 (for 100gb partition, adjust as desired)
    FORMAT FS=NTFS LABEL="WINDOWS 7"

You need to burn the W7 iso ( your version, HP, Pro, Ult, ) onto a dvd with an iso burning program at 4x speed. That is the problem.

All the steps on how to do it have been given by Gregrocker.

Rightclick on the ISO, select Burn with WIndows Image Burner, or Open With Windows Image Burner.

As an IT student you should know how to enter BIOS setup, by tapping the key given for it on first boot screen.

On the various menus look for a choice for Legacy BIOS to enable.

Next look for BIOS boot order and remove EFI Boot disk from the boot order, replace it with 1) DVD drive and then 2) HD.

Now continue with the steps for install.
