All Programs Blank

I just upgraded (yeah shoot me) from 7000 x64 to 7068 x64. All programs worked fine in 7000 but in 7068 it comes up completely blank. Reg entries look OK, in HKCU and HKLM (User Shell Folders).

Please help!

Hello WarlockLord,

It looks like it may be one of those upgrade vs clean install issues.

See if this is what you are seeing will the name All Programs not even displayed in the Start Menu.

Start Menu All Programs List - Enable or Disable - Vista Forums

If not, then create a new administrator account and see if it works in that account instead. If it does, then you can just copy the contents of the old user account's C:\Users\(user name) folders into the new accounts corresponding folders to keep those settings.

If that still does not help, then you can try a repair install other than a clean reinstall.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

easy fix for blank "all programs"

This happened to me twice. It has nothing to do with 70 program limit or direct registry tweaking to solve it. I had only 12 programs when it happened and also it occurred several weeks after win 7 upgrade. I corrected the first occurence by using system restore to an earlier date and now today a second time by following instructions at the site quoted below. It is to do with administrative permissions.
