Hard drive full capacity not recognized Only in Windows 7 at the install screen. Even after a fresh install and adding updates, it won't see it. However, if I plug drive in as slave, xp sp3 will recognize the full capacity. Bios recognizes full capacity and all the partitioning softwares recognize the full 320GB. Ironically, I can only access 137 gb. This makes me wonder about the 48bit LBA. But this can't be the case since everything else sees it, right? Why won't windows 7 see the hard drive's full capacity but other OS, partitioning softwares, and the bios recognize the full 320gb? Trying to install Windows 7 x86 Ultimate. | My System Specs |

Welcome Jaunty!
I would recommend doing a Google search for 137gb limit. I have found one page that looks promising, 137GB limit on 200GB disk?, but there are loads of them out there!
Good luck!

I have done several google searches on this issue. Everything I have read so far relates to a bios/motherboard issue. My problem is not a bios/motherboard issue. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home built OS Ubuntu 9.04, Win XP sp3, Windows 7 CPU AMD ahlon64 X2 4200+ Brisbane 2.2GHz socket AM2 Motherboard Biostar NF520-A2 SE AM2 nVidia nForce 520D Memory Corsair XMS2 2x1GB 240 pin DDR2 800 Graphics Card EVGA nVidia 8400 GS PCI-E 512mb DDR2 Sound Card integrated Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic 19" widescreen Screen Resolution 1680x1050 PSU 450w forgot brand name Case forgot Cooling thermaltake Hard Drives WD Caviar Blue 320GB IDE - attempting Win7

Usually that problem is caused by a jumper on the drive. Check the documentation of your drive; see if you have the jumpers configured correctly. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Professional x64 CPU Intel i7 2600K OC'd @ 4620 MHz Motherboard Asus P8Z68-V Pro Memory 16GB GSkill Sniper 2133 Mhz (4x4GB) Graphics Card EVGA GeForce GTX 480 SuperClocked+ Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays 2x Acer S273HLbmii 27" Screen Resolution 2 x 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech MK320 (wireless) Mouse Logitech MK320 (wireless) PSU Corsair HW Series 750w (modular) Case Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced Blue Edition Cooling CM Hyper 212+ CPU cooler, 3x 230mm + 1x 140mm case fans Hard Drives 64GB Crucial M4 SSD

Drive jumpered as cable select. I always jumper drives as cable select, as I am always swapping out drives. For kicks, I did try changing the jumper to master. I also tried other IDE cables, with/without any other drives attached. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home built OS Ubuntu 9.04, Win XP sp3, Windows 7 CPU AMD ahlon64 X2 4200+ Brisbane 2.2GHz socket AM2 Motherboard Biostar NF520-A2 SE AM2 nVidia nForce 520D Memory Corsair XMS2 2x1GB 240 pin DDR2 800 Graphics Card EVGA nVidia 8400 GS PCI-E 512mb DDR2 Sound Card integrated Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic 19" widescreen Screen Resolution 1680x1050 PSU 450w forgot brand name Case forgot Cooling thermaltake Hard Drives WD Caviar Blue 320GB IDE - attempting Win7
