keyboard stopped working

Hi all,

I have a problem with Windows 7. The keyboard stopped working form one day to anohter*. In the BIOS it works fine. When I use a Linux partition (starting from DVD, "Knoppix") it works also fine. Also at bootloader leval its ok.
But at Windows 7 it stopps working. Does not matter which keyboard I use -USB or PS/2.

The USB driver works propperly. Interesting is that the PS/2 driver does NOT work propperly (Error Reason Code 10).

I am at the end of my know how.

Any help is highly recomened.

PS: Non native EN speaker - sorry for my english

*I have to mention that yesterday my PC had some BDOS (Sudden blue deaths) at booting (reason unknown - looks like a memory issue). Windows 7 start some self reparation (?), I assume, after that the KB stopped working.

Hello bbi,

Welcome to Seven Forums.

Found this on the Code 10. Description of Code 10-related errors that Device Manager generates in Windows-based computers

Have you tried Safe Mode? Info if needed. Advanced Boot Options

Hi Gary,
thanks for the fast replay.
Codes 10 only appears with PS/2 Keyboard. Currently USB KB is used and all driver working propperly.
I usee ABO (Advanced Boot Options) but with no success.
- systemrepair reports: "Noting to repair"
- cmd: Using SFC /scannow: "Pending Systemrepair, please reboot and start SFC again.
-> But I rebooted several times
Interesting: In ABO/cmd I can use the keyboard. If I start Windows 7 and use cmd the keyboard does not work.

Looks like I have to use the reinstall option.

I am correcting me:
Systemstartrepair reports: Number of Error causes = 1

What ever that means

PS: Trying to translate the Windows terms form german to EN - dont be confused if it hits not 100%

Windows 7 Ulti. x64

Hi Welcome to Seven Forums, Have you tried to update your chip set drivers? Go to manufactures web site and have a look. Maybe the ones Microsoft installed for you are not the newest drivers.
