Fix Explorer.exe to make Windows install again?

Hey recently my explorer.exe messed up and wouldn't open, and now whenever I try to reinstall Windows 7, it says that all the sources for installation aren't available. I've tried formatting my hard drive but that didn't do anything. Any1 got any ideas as to how I can fix this to make Windows install again?

Well, to format your hard drive you need to run fdisk.

Once a drive is formatted, there is no Windows Explorer on it any more. It's a blank drive with nothing on it, what you're saying does not make any sense.

Can you explain exactly what you are doing?

Are you booting from a Windows 7 install DVD?

How did you format the hard drive?

Whenever I boot from my Windows 7 DVD and Windows XP cd they both blue screen of death in the middle of installation. I formatted my hard drive through my Windows XP cd.

This sounds a lot like a memory problem. Use either of the following to test your computer memory. Let it complete at least 3 passes. Running overnight is even better.

There are two programs that are normally used to test computer memory, Memtest86+ and Microsoft Memory Diagnostic. They are available from the following locations:

Memtest86+
Microsoft Memory Diagnostic

They are bootable CD ISO images. You don't burn the iso file itself to CD., you create a CD from the iso file using your CD burning software. There is a good freeware burner called ImgBurn which will do this easily.
