I've got a doozy of setup

So here's the deal. A friend of mine bought a used macbook, and HIS friend decided it would be a good idea to wipe osx and put windows 7 on the macbook. I have no idea how he got it to work, but here I am, surfing the interwebs.

The problem: My friend wants osx back on his laptop. Audio and the webcam dont work, so he wants to revert to the old setup. But I have no idea how. I have tried holding c when starting the laptop, but after jumping into the mac installer, an error pops up saying mac osx cant be installed. I think the way to do it is to wipe windows 7, then install mac osx, but I'm not sure it will work and not looking forward to a black plastic brick.

Any suggestions how I go about this? How do I wipe windows 7? Why is there an error message saying I cant install osx?

The error is probably caused by your friend wiping it off the machine. How do you expect to install an OS that's been deleted?

I think you'll have to find a copy of OSX from a friend or he'll have to buy one from some Apple store.

Interestingly enough, I have both Tiger and Leopard for iMacs - should be pretty comparable, but I don't know if it is going ot have *all* the required drivers for the hardware in the MacBook....

Search around for a Leopard 10.5.x(latest is bets) install disc for the MacBooks - perhaps on the newsgroups....
