    Dual boot with XP doesn't work anymore...pls help


    Ok, a bit of a background on this:

    I HAD a dual boot with XP and Win 7 on two separate drives with a menu system at the beginning.
    a) XP on an IDE - 80gig - installed first about 3 years ago
    b) Win7 64 bit - SATA 1T - installed in the new year.

    I lost the 80gig drive and so I bought a new SATA and recovered XP to it using Acronis backup recovery. Works well now and XP boots with everything recovered.

    Now here is where the problem begins. The Dual boot menu does not show up anymore when I turn on the computer.
    I cannot boot with XP if I have the Win7 drive as the drive priority in the BIOS and vise versa. If I have the XP drive as the priority drive in the BIOS, I do not get the option to boot to Win 7.

    So I researched and tried this
    1) a repair with Win7 installation disk (repair startup). Tried it and did not remedy the situation
    2) Ran BCD and found the XP drive set it up as a boot drive. Rebooted and it did indeed give me two menu item (early version of windows and Win7), but when I select EARLY VERISON OF WINDOWN, it gives me an "NTLDR error" or something similar (sorry that is going from memory)

    So I am at a loss of what to do to enable a dual boot at this point. I really don't want to reinstall either XP or Win7. Is there another way to fix this?

    If you can boot into 7, install EasyBCD 2.0 after doing quick registration to use beta. Remove any XP entry in Add/Remove and then Add it back. Accept offer for boot files, Save.

    If this will not correct Dual Boot, post back a screenshot of your full Disk Mgmt drive map using Snipping Tool in Start menu, attach file using paper clip in reply box. Add a snip of your Easy listings page.

    If you cannot boot Win7 yet or the above fails, Try using EasyBCD2.0 in XP to Add 7 after removing it if necc. in Add/Remove tab. You'll need to install Net Framework 2.0 to use it in XP.

    If this fails, boot into Win7 DVD Repair console, click through to Recov Tools list to run Startup Repair up to three separate times with reboots. If Win7 still will not start, return to Recov Tools list, open a Command prompt to type:

    DISKPART
    LIST DISK
    SELECT DISK # (for Win7 HD)
    LIST PARTITION
    SELECT PARTITION # (For Win7 partition)
    ACTIVE
    EXIT

    Now return to tools list and run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots to write the MBR to Win7 to start it, then use Step 1 above, posting back screenshot if necc.
