    Major Problem...Help Needed!

This is a new build...1 week old. Not a single problem til today. I booted up and it everything seemed normal but got stuck on Boot from CD/DVD. Nothing.
Went into the BIOS...everything looked normal.
Set BIOS to fail safe defaults. Same problem.
The BIOS saw the SSD but had capacity as 8mb!!
Ran Gparted. Saw the SSD as 8mb unallocated space! WTF!!
Can't do anything. Windows disc runs but can't repair or install cause SSD is only 8mb.
I don't have another HDD to put in.
    I'm out of ideas.
Like I said all has been good. Shut down last night after no problems.
    SSD is in IDE mode.
One other thing...no matter where I plug the SSD in it never comes up as being in Channel 0.
    Please advise...

Sorry to hear this but, as this is new kit, I think it's a case of RTM for the drive, or at least contact the supplier to check your options.

If this had happened straight from initial switch-on then there could be the possibility of incorrect configuration, but as you've had it working, and assuming you have not changed any settings, it looks to me like a hardware failure

    Edit

May also be worth trying to "borrow" a drive just to check that it's not a Motherbourd fault (based on the inability to show connection on Channel 0

Yeah looks like I'll send it back. I've done some reading and altough rare, this has happened to others with the Intel SSDs. One possible fix is to flash the firmware. I have the new one burnt to disc but haven't done it because I don't wish to void the warranty. I'll grab a WD VR tomorrow and contact the supplier of the SSD for a replacement

Don't forget to let them know of your shock and disappointment, that such equipment, that is normally of such a high standard should fail so soon .

Perhaps you'll shame them into an upgrade for free :)

You had an Intel X25M fail? I would shame them as Nigel said.

I would also suspect that this is a H/W failure. I had to send one OCZ SSD back because out of the blue I got a gezillion orphant records on it. Fortunately I still had a running system on a HDD, so I could proceed.
