Windows 7: new internal hard drive

hi!

im currently running windows7 and have had to order a new internal hard drive. when it arrives i'd like to install my windows7 on it. is it possible to reinstall a 2nd time with the same key or will it complain of an illegitimate copy?

how can i go about doing this?

Follow this tutorial.

But do not give your number. You have 30 days after installtion to give the number. After you have the programs and evrything running. Give the number then, if there is a problem a rep will get on the line, give him the informataiona and I promise you, it will be activated.After activation make an image on an external hard drive. You will never have to reinstall again, you can just use the image, which you have updated as needed.

EDIT: When asked for your number, that you will not give, make sure to untick the box asking to do an automatic activation.

Hi rich - i agree with u many ppl are unaware of how this can be easily worked out - basically a licensing query. i used to work for MS as a tech right from the junior until tier 3. much i have learnt. one thing is, to call for help, ur call comes here - malaysia, sometimes accurate sometimes substandard. other queries go to india/phils.

Any retail copy of Windows 7 besides OEM can be reinstalled as often as you like and wherever you want.

If it's Upgrade version you need to have a qualifying XP or Vista license that came with the PC, or a retail copy on hand but not necessarily installed.

Factory and Builder's OEM can only be reinstalled on the same mobo, but also can be reinstalled as often as you wish.
