Windows 7 type "Bartpe" Disk ?

Hi all
Back in XP days (still have it on a DVD) it was possible to make a "Live" Windows XP type system that ran from a DVD. You could also add some applications as well which made this quite a good recovery tool.

You could also make this runnable from a USB as well.

I've googled a bit -- but can't seem to find if there are any Windows 7 equivalents to this type of application.

With the old BARTPE disk you needed of course your copy of Windows XP to create it but it worked very well indeed.

How to make a USB-key bootable with BartPE

Any links to a similar Windows 7 type application -- appreciate it

Cheers

Hey ya jimbo!

I made one of those BartPE also! With Vista and 7, we have that "Pre-installation Environment" on the install DVD, and can have 7 burn a CD as well. I have been reading some and there are now a PE, and a RE. Here are links to what I found:

Windows PE Tools

What Is Windows RE?

In this thread, with lots of help from SIW2 and woebetide, I combined both 32 bit and 64 bit repair iso to one CD: creating a 2 OS thumb drive

It is possible to add other apps to the CD (or DVD) that can be accessed from the PE or RE platform?

Cheers!
