Windows 7: complete hard drive crash on Compaq Presario with Win7

Hi,

I recently upgraded to windows 7 from vista home premium. I didn't do a recovery disk for vista and only have a repair disk for Windows 7 64-bit. Is there anyway to put this OS on my computer with only the repair disk? HP is taking to long to get my recovery disks and need my laptop. Someone please help me get my computer up and running.



The reason I can't find an operating system is that I installed a new 320gb hd cause the 160gb factory hd became corrupted and no longer usable. Right now I started to follow the steps for the HARD MASTER RESET which I was given 5 options on the screen and chose command prompt. Got as far as where u choose the drive where the disk is, put dir and can't find the exe file.

No Can Do... If you upgraded, what happened to your Win 7 CD?

I agree, where is your Windows 7 upgrade disc?

A Windows 7 repair disc has only boot files and repair tools... no install files.

I believe I put it on my external hard drive and now stuck in the command prompt trying to get in my backup set. It shows 0 files and 3 in the directory but can't get in to try and load. The one I'm trying to get in is backup set 2009-11-15 161205.

Did you run the HD diagnostics for your make HD, available from the Support Downloads webpage on the maker's website? This can repair as well as diagnose.

As stated you need a Windows 7 DVD, should have burned to DVD. If you can't retrieve it from HD, then download from link provided.
