Sabotage,
A piece of advice from an old warrior--Always, Always backup everything dear to you before you partition, format, or install an operating system.
Too many things can go wrong.
The old warrior has fought many installation battles over many years. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.

Sabotage,
Excellent. As said-backup everything Dear to your Heart. (all else is unimportant)
You can delete the windows.old folder using Disk Cleanup.
You still need to troubleshoot why Win7 DVD would not boot. Try another bootable disk. You can also Verify Disk and that ISO is bootable using ImgBurn.
