    How to remove Windows 7 from another hard drive?

    I have Windows installed on HDD and then I got a new SSD and installed windows 7 on that one. Now when I boot up it asks me which version of windows I want to boot. How do I remove the version of windows on the HDD? Will the boot screen go back to normal once I remove it? I just want the windows uninstalled but I want to keep all the files that are on the harddrive, is that possible?

    exia;

    Try this: type msconfig
    in the search box at the start menu. Then look in the boot tab to see if you have two entries for Windows 7. The one that says "Current OS" is the one you have booted to. Tho second one should be the one you don't want any longer. If you remove the entry, that should remove the boot menu but not affect any of the files on the other hard drive.

    Drive C is the one I want to keep.

    I also want to combine everything in drive D into one NTFS partition while keeping all my files.

    Well if that's the case, try taking out your 2nd HDD, and see if your SSD boots W7 up fine, if so, yes, you can delete the windows files on your 2nd HDD.

    According to the image posted, the D: partition is the ONLY "Active" partition on either drive and so would hold the boot files. Since the C: partition is to be the primary Windows 7 partition for future use, it might be wise to move the boot files to that drive. One way to do that is to first, mark the C: partition "Active" (right click on it in the Drive Management utility and select "Active"), then unplug the other hard drive, boot to the Windows 7 install DVD and do the "Startup Repair" as many as three times or until the C: Windows will boot correctly. Then it would be safe to remove the boot files along with the Windows files and leave the other data untouched?

    To see the files Theog is asking about, you will need to untick the option 'Hide protected system files (recommended)'

    Then upload what you see.
