Easy Transfer once 7 is installed

I upgraded my XP system to win7pro. I used the Easy Transfer to back up my computer prior to a clean install. The old system (xp) was configured as follows:

primary drive: (older pata type) (250 gigabytes)(2 partitions)
drive C: operating system and program files and a few misc files
drive E: contains restore files

secondary drive: (sata)(500 gigabytes)(originally partitioned into 3 drive)
drives D, F, G and H: hold all my photos, videos and music files

The way I had it set up was that drive D was my adobe scratch disk (10 gig) then the other three (3) housed F (photos), G (videos / home movies), and H (music).

My question is this: Since I used "Easy Transfer" to back up my data, is it possible to take the second hard drive, the SATA drive and remove the old primary partitions and reconfigure it with two (2) primary partitions. Run "Easy Transfer" and place the files on the newly partitioned drive and still have my programs (Adobe Lightroom for one) see and access the files (data)?

Or will "Easy Transfer" be looking for the three (3) original primary partitions and only reinstall data if the drive is set up the old way?

I'd appreciate any help or suggestion or warnings from those who know of any issues in regards to this matter.

If you backup drive C: only, Yes.

If you backup all drives, NO.You will need the same setup.

Bummer I backed up all the drives.

Guess I'll have to run the "easy transfer" first. Then back up the second drives 3 primary partitions to an external, then remove them and reconfigure all over again. I think what I will do is make sure I back up Lightroom catalogs before hand.

Thanks for the reply "theog"

Can an Easy Transfer archive be used/read without using Easy Transfer?
This sounds like a dumb question, but here's the background. My daughter's XP laptop crashed (trashed hard disk that I doubt we can rescue much data from) and so we got her a Windows 7 computer. Unless we can rescue much of the old data from crashed XP, she's pretty much starting off empty. ...
