Because of a not relevant reason I need to restore my computer to vista from 7. I have a dual boot setup of linux and windows 7. If i restore via restore discs will my linux partition be wiped?
In my experiences with Recovery/Restore discs, especially if supplied by the PC manufacturer, the first thing they do is format the drive. Some have the option to let you keep your User files but usually thats the most they allow.

If you are using GRUB, deep clean the HD with zeroes before running formatted Recovery. A great disk manager for Windows 7 which will do this is free Partition Wizard bootable CD.
You want to install Linux second anyway along with GRUB if you want it as bootloader for Vista.
