Reinstalling windows 7 on a netbook: How?

I just bought a netbook but found the windows 7 starter os unsatisfactory. Taking a friends advice i upgraded to ubuntu. Ive found that ubuntu isnt the os for me and i would like to go back to windows 7 starter. How would i go about doing this? Ive got the windows 7 product key on the bottom of the netbook, but obviously as its a netbook i dont have a disc to reinstall. How do i do this?

Hi understand that i need to make a bootable flash drive. But because this is a netbook, it didnt come with any form of os discs (like those which would normally come with a pc) so what im really looking for is how would i go about getting the windows 7 starter iso file? Would i have to buy a new one? it seems silly that i would have to do this.

Did the netbook come with a recovery partition, or did you make any recovery discs before putting Ubuntu on?

    Bolen,
Visit the website of the manufacturer of your netbook. The mfg will probably have recommendations for you.

How much ram does the netbook have? How much can it have? What processor, what speed?

If you upgrade to 2GB, purchase the Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade version and follow the procedure given by Paul Thurott at his website or follow the procedure given here for installing using an upgrade version, then you will have most probably a usable system. I have an Asus 1002HA/XP netbook with Win 7 Ultimate installed and 2 Gigs.

Well you wouldn't have had to start this thread if you had of done. You could source one online, but due to SevenForums policy I can't link you to a clean one.

No problem. A good site dedicated to notebooks and netbooks is "forum.notebookreview.com"

Every Win7 installer contains all versions, but some are hidden due to the presence of an ei.cfg file in Sources folder. Extract ISO to desktop, delete that file, then recompile into ISO to create an All-Versions installer: Bootable ISO - Create from Installation Files

Now boot flash stick, select your licensed version, insert key from sticker. Activation may require robocall to MS to sort actual key from batch key given.

Find any missing drivers or favorite apps on the Support Downloads webpage for your model netbook, Adobe (reader, flash) and Java (runtime, free Ofc suite) websites.
