X64 RC to RTM upgrade woes

    Folks

I'm having a wierd problem trying to install RTM over RC.

I know all the warnings about this being not supported and the small tricks involved in actually making it work. Altough I definitely favour full "clean" reinstalls there are certainly cases where an upgrade is "good enough" and so far they all worked (and continue to work) just fine.

That being said those always involved 32bit versions of Win7. I now have to perform a similar trick on a 64bit OS and for some reason the installer complains about not being able to install 64 over 32 or 32 over 64. I have triple checked that the machine is indeed running x64 and that the media is x64...

    Any idea ?

    Thanks & regards

    alex

    Welcome to sevenforums Alex
Are you using this method to upgrade your RC to rtm? Maybe windows is giving you a confusing error message for the wrong reason. good luck to you with your install.

    atakaks,

What is the operating system on your computer?

Are you trying to install a dual-boot scenario?

In any case, do a clean install. do not try to install RTM on top of RC
