moving Desktop location

I wanted to move my desktop location from C to E:\files\Desktop and somehow it was moved to the root of E: Now everything on E thinks it is on the desktop. I moved the location back to C, but all the files on E still display on the desktop even though the properties of Desktop indicate C. HOw can I fix this?
regards
Milton

Welcome!

First, create a backup of your registry. Registry - Backup and Restore

Then, try changing the Desktop key in HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ User Shell Folders to E:\files\Desktop.

Let us know how it works out.
