windows 7 won't load from DVD

I am currently attempting to do a clean install with windows 7 OEM on a new WD 250 Gig HD. I also installed a brand new DVD rom. BIOS sees both drives and I set the boot sequence DVD first then HD. I fired up the machine and the DVD reads the windows DVD and starts to install files. When it atempts to start windows it hangs up and just sits there on the starting windows screen with no activity. Am I missing something? Why won't it boot up?

    Help

Could be many things at this point: Did you initialize the new HD? Apply formatting before install using Custom>Drive tools?

Try installing with only 2 gb memory. Test your memory.

Try resetting the CMOS in BIOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

Now check SATA controller setting in BIOS. Try ACHI first, then IDE if neccessary.

Did you take out the windows dvd after the first run during the install? Let it stay in the tray so every time the machine reboots during the install, it gives you the option to boot from dvd. After the first run you dont need to boot from the dvd but the disk should stay in the tray till the install is completed fully.

    Hi Bill
Thanks for your response. All ideas are helpful. However, I can't get windows 7 to run through the first time. It goes through loading windoes files, then you see the starting windows with the winodws logo floating into place. It is at that point all stops.

    Ok
Tried everything. Reset Bios, Swpped CD Roms. Reformatted HD. Still same problem. Does anyone have the similar issues or know what is wrong? I have never seen this.

    blutksman,
Google search results are swarming with pages on this issue as it is a common problem. A few things i could gather:
    1) Update your bios, it maybe a buggy bios.
    2) Disconnect all external connectors- USB, Ethernet, external drives etc. before installing.
    3) If you have an Nvidia graphics card, disable it.
    4) Try installing from a flash drive.
    Good luck.
