I noticed that your C partition is NOT an active partition. On the other hand you have an active partition on Disk1. But that one is Fat. Mark C as active and see what happens.

Did you install drivers yet? Maybe you should...Don't know...
This is not normal behavior, I would assume based on my own computer specs.
Great point... your chipset drivers not being installed could affect this...

Since its a Dell you can search your service tag # (its on a sticker on the side or bottom or you can view in BIOS)
Here: Dell - Drivers and Downloads
Custom machine, biostar tf560 a+ mobo. Not a dell.

Problem solved, anyway. I started over from scratch. I figured if it failed, I'd just stumble to the corner, shoot up some caffeine, and cry.

As it happened, installing it took just under 30 minutes this time. Seems to work smoothly.

    Almost eerie...

Anyway, thanks everyone for the help! :)
OK your system specs state dell mobo.

Good to keep stabbing at it! Since you mentioned you've been having DVD/CD issues... I'd replace that soon, they are super cheap and super fast!

The OP reloaded the OS from scratch and everything is working as expected. Something just went terrible askew in the first install it seems.

I bet his first install had a glitch due to his optical drive... some crucial windows file or dll failed to copy properly... the OP stated earlier of some strange issues with it.
