    Clean Install Option Not Available

    Hi,

I am trying to clean install Windows 7 Professional.

When in 'Where do you want to install?' [after selecting Custom (Advanced) option], I am not getting the Advanced option for format (clean install) under the listed HDD partitions.

Pls assist how can I do a clean install deleting my previous OS (Vista Home Premium).

Are you booting from the disk?

I had the same problem when I installed W7 for the first time. The second time, I used my XP disc to delete the W7 partition and have a clean drive for this final W7 version.

You need to boot from the DVD at start up. So you need to configure your bios to boot from CD/DVD, and reboot the laptop with the disk inserted, which will then run the installer and give you the option.

Is that why I am not getting the advanced option?

It is, as you can't format the drive you're using for your OS whilst you're using the OS.
