You are very wise. Keys are used and resold many times. Money is hard to come by these days. If you are fortunate enough to have spare cash to buy an OS, you dont want to waste it. I would only trust MS for verification.
You will be calling the validation center. They will ask for your key, do not give at that point. Just hold on until a rep comes on. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 420 OS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, clean install, upgrade disc CPU Intel Core2 processsor Q8200(2.33Ghz 1333FSB) Quad Core Tech Motherboard Dell Memory 6 gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon 256MB HD3650 Sound Card Intergrated 7.1 Channel Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell SP2009W 20" Keyboard Dell USB Keyboard Mouse Dell Premium Optical USB Cooling Fan Hard Drives 640 GB Serial ATA Hard drive Internet Speed DSL 2.85 |

MSDN/Technet is a subscription service and those keys should only be used whilst the subscription is alive, moreover you can only use it to activate your PCs for evaluation purpose only, and only if you are the Technet Subscriber. I'm sorry to say but I think you got screwed over You could always try claiming your £50 back under ebay buyer protection.

source of answer Selling Product Key from MSDN/Technet and or without COA You are probably right, but I really hope not. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 420 OS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, clean install, upgrade disc CPU Intel Core2 processsor Q8200(2.33Ghz 1333FSB) Quad Core Tech Motherboard Dell Memory 6 gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon 256MB HD3650 Sound Card Intergrated 7.1 Channel Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell SP2009W 20" Keyboard Dell USB Keyboard Mouse Dell Premium Optical USB Cooling Fan Hard Drives 640 GB Serial ATA Hard drive Internet Speed DSL 2.85 |

source of answer Selling Product Key from MSDN/Technet and or without COA The only problem I found with your response was you saying that a product from Technet can only be used if the subscription is active. This is not true. See second post here and this for confirmation that you may continue using software after your subscription expires. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number tw33k OS Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) SP1 CPU Intel 3770k 4.6GHz Motherboard ASUS Maximus V Formula Memory 8GB (2x 4GB) Crucial Ballistix Graphics Card Sapphire 7950 (1060/1600) Sound Card On Board Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays 27" Acer B273HU (via HDMI) Screen Resolution 2048 x 1152 Keyboard Microsoft Wireless 5000 Mouse Microsoft Wireless 5000 PSU Corsair AX750 Gold Case Corsair Obsidian 800DW Cooling Corsair H100 (2x AP-121/2x UK-3000 push/pull) Hard Drives Crucial M4 128GB

source of answer Selling Product Key from MSDN/Technet and or without COA Well, i just read through the thread above and it said they can only be used for MSDN software. This was all i needed.
I have just asked the seller for a full refund, if he don't, then i will be taking this to Ebay and then Microsoft.
To sell a used key is one thing, but to sell one that is going to be no good. Thats below the belt.
Thanks guys, looks like i will now have to buy another key from M$ now,
Let this be a lesson to anyone trying to buy 7 cheap on Ebay, it will most definatly be too good to be true. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number The HAFmeister (Custom) OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 RTM + SP1 CPU Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHZ (OC'd to 3.99Ghz) Motherboard Asus Rampage III Extreme x58 SATA 6GB & USB 3.0 Memory 6GB OCZ Reaper HPC Edition PC3-16000 (set 1606Mhz 8-8-8-26) Graphics Card EVGA Nvidia Geforce GTX 570 Sound Card Creative SB X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional Series Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SM2433BW 24" Widescreen Monitor Screen Resolution 1920x1200 Keyboard Logitech G510 Mouse Logitech G9 Gaming Mouse PSU Thermaltake Toughpower 1200w (Modular) Case CoolerMaster HAF-932 Cooling Zalman Reserator XT and ZM-WB5 Plus - GPU uses Stock coolers Hard Drives Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 32Mb Buffer SATA II
